3 Quick Tips for Pro-Aging

Let's be real.  We are aging.  Everyday.  Period.  dot dot dot.  Great thing for all of you is having an esthetician (me!) who asks a lot of questions and gets to know you, and your health history.  This lets me provide you with the right tools and tips to take with you.  Why is this important?  We all spend our days differently.  Stay at home Mom, construction worker, realtor, dental hygienist and so on.  I am able to give you a mini tutorial on how to take care of  your skin at home so I can set you on the path for happy, healthy skin and  pro-aging.     Let's get your skin to age well and slow down the signs.

I want to stop saying anti aging.  I feel as if aging is a negative.

#1 Removing your make up nightly. Even if you don't wear make up, cleansing the day off is imperative.  I have posted about this tip in a previous blog.  What your skin collects through the day needs to be removed (cleansed and NOT a Neutrogena wipe-put down the neutrogena) and moisturized.

side note: are you looking in the mirror when cleansing your skin? Sounds silly, I know.  The more you pay attention to HOW you are removing the days gunk is important too.  I have to disagree with cleansing your face in the shower.  Look in the mirror.

#2 Purchase a night time cream.  Beauty sleep is real.  A quality night time routine is where its at.  Is your skin dry? Dehydrated? Seeing signs of wrinkles? Giving your skin a boost with the correct retinol or vitamins can change your skin for the better.  Let it do its magic over night.

#3 SPF.  Or, SPFL.  I have to coin my little acronym. Sun Protection for Life.  I wear SPF on my forearms and back of my hands.  (just a quick spray on my arms and hands) Every day.  Period.  Same with my face.  My make up primer has spf 50 as does my moisturizer. The research every year from sun exposure seems to be getting more in depth as technology and education increases.  Yes, the sun feels good as we are vitamin d deprived around here now that the Fall months have set it.

I must add another tip... Exfoliate! Twice a week with a reputable exfoliant.  One with spherical beads and not a nut based product!!!

I could keep going! Make an appointment to come  see me and bring a coffee.  Even if you feel you are past the Pro-Aging stage.  More tips and tricks in my bag to share. My studio is comfy, cozy and warm.
