Three Reasons to Put Down the Witch Hazel
Ahh yes.... Witch Hazel. Your Mom and Gran maybe used this toner/astringent to wash their faces nightly, or you have seen the six shelves dedicated at Ulta to this watery weird solution. I have definitely seen an uptick with my guests using WH on the daily. Without a beat, I can see you are using WH to cleanse your skin even before you tell me. Your skin is dry, light to mild rough texture, and it is lacking moisture and balance. I can also feel the build up of dead skin cells from not enough moisture and exfoliation. WH is marketed to dry up acne. It sure does dry it up. It also throws your ph balance off that your skin will pump out more oil and cause acne. WH is touted as a natural cleanser for your oily or acnaic skin without being harsh.
Your skin needs a cleanser with chemicals to combat issues. Whether its acne, oily, dry, dehydrated, aging etc. We are chemicals. Chemicals are not a bad thing. A cleanser (professional line) will in the long run save you money, time, heartache (yes), and pro-long aging at any age. Pre-teen to adult.
I have attached an article from Paula's Choice, with help from my former educator Raquel Wong. Giving credit where credit is due. To throw in another reason to maybe put down the WH...The main ingredient used in Preparation H is in witch hazel.
