Buzz Words Blog

Here to give you a quick list when it comes to the latest and most used buzz words I talk about in the treatment room.  Let's make it short and snappy.

+Exfoliate: This verb is essential when it comes to aging well.  We need to slough off dead cells to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.  Not exfoliating emphasizes acne, melasma, and dull skin to hang out.  Once or twice a week.  Ask me for more instructions and if you are using the correct one.

+Hyaluronic Acid/Serum: We all naturally have hyaluronic in our bodies as a viscous lubricant for our joints, but it also keeps our skin plump and hydrated.  After about age twenty one it starts to deplete.  I call this a super boost ingredient because you should be adding a hyaluronic serum to your skin care regime.  In the long run, it will stave off the fine lines and wrinkles, and keep your skin from looking dry and or dehydrated.

+Collagen:  A protein which binds connective tissue and keeps our skin strong and taut.  Again, as we age this degrades.  Microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, Skin Fusion Lift, chemical peels, deeper facial services will essentially tell our collagen to rebuild and repair.

+Elastin: Elastin goes right along with collagen.  This gives us elasticity and resilience, so if you poke or cut your skin, elastin quickly jumps in to repair.

+Anti-Oxidants: I am adding these in to your service every time you come in to see me, whether I mention it or not.  Especially as of late.  We all need a protective shield for our skin.  Stress and the environment erode our skins natural barrier.  Anti-oxidants tell the free radicals to piss off as they want to cause aging and illness to our cells.  This is where vitamin c, vitamin c, green tea, vitamin a (retinol) come in to help our skin repair, calm down, and guard against what stress brings upon us.

See you soon!

Ash
